Mike & Ed's Grand Adventure
Back in 2014, we decided to build an airplane, and settled on Just Aircraft's Highlander. This has been a great experience and we've learned (and are still learning) several new things along the way.
This a 2-seater, high-wing airplane with gull style doors/windows. The cockpit is 44" wide with lots of headroom and over 30 cu. ft. of cargo area.
We are installing a Rotax 912 iS Sport engine, which puts out 100 HP. This is a fuel injected engine with a fuel efficiency that is, according to Rotax, 30 percent better compared to the (non-injected) 912 ULS when cruising, and 10% more efficient with throttle wide open.
About the Builders:
We're located in Cary, NC, just outside Raleigh in the flight path of RDU Airport.
Michael Crowder: This is Michael's second airplane. His first was a Sonex that was completed in 2008.
Ed Bodette: This is Ed's first airplane project, although he helped out quite a bit with Michael's Sonex.
